But every thing fried tastes 10 times better. Chicken 65 is one such very popular starter that is available in most non-veg restaurants in India. Chicken 65 was a dish introduced in 1965 at the Buhari Hotel restaurant in Chennai by its founder A.M.Buhari. Hence the name.

  1.  Firstly marinate the boneless chicken pieces and leg pieces in a mixture of yoghurt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste and salt. Set it aside in a refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
  2. In a bowl, mix yoghurt with red chilli powder, sugar, salt and garlic paste and set it aside. The seasoning mix to coat the chicken pieces is ready.
  3. In a frying pan, heat oil for deep frying and add the marinated chicken pieces when the oil is hot. Make sure to fry the chicken pieces on medium flame to ensure that they are cooked through and are golden brown. Take the pieces off on a kitchen tissue to remove excess oil.
  4. Now in another pan, prepare the tempering by adding cumin seeds, chopped garlic cloves, chopped green chillies and black pepper powder to a tablespoon of oil.
  5. Now add fried chicken pieces to this tempering and add the prepared seasoning mix on top and mix it well to coat the pieces evenly with seasoning.
  6. Spicy and tangy chicken 65 is ready to serve. Garnish it with coriander leaves, slices of onion and lemon.

Start off your meal with this scrumptious chicken 65. You’ll love it!
