Shrimp Fry

You don’t always need a wide array of ingredients to create a great dish. You just need a few right ones.

This easy peasy lemon queasy Shrimp Fry is one such simple dish that requires just a handful of ingredients. 

Time Taken:

Prep. Time: 30-45 mins

Cooking Time: 5-7 mins

Serves: 2


200-250 gms deshelled and deveined shrimps

For marination of shrimps:

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2-3 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • Salt as required

 For batter:

  • 3-4 tbsp Chickpea flour
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • Salt as required
  • Water as required

Oil for shallow frying

  1. Marinate the shrimps in salt, turmeric powder, lemon juice and ginger-garlic paste and set it aside in a refrigerator for 30-60 minutes.
  2. Now prepare the batter to dip the marinated shrimp pieces. In a bowl, add chickpea flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, black pepper powder and salt as required. Add required amount of water to make a batter like consistency. It shouldn’t be too runny and the batter should not have any lumps in it.
  3. Now heat a frying pan with oil for shallow frying. 
  4. Add shrimp pieces and fry till the shrimp is cooked through and golden brown on both sides. 
  5. Serve it with lemon wedges and picked vegetables.

Its high on taste even without too many ingredients. Bon Appétit!!
